Every deal on KAI Deals USA carries a small line: “Price checked — [date].” It isn’t decoration. It’s a promise about what we did before the deal went live. This page explains that process end to end, so you know exactly what our stamp means — and what it doesn’t.
It means that on the date shown, a human opened the retailer’s own product page and confirmed the price we published matched what the store was actually charging. It is a point-in-time check, not a live feed. Prices move, so the date tells you how fresh our check is — and reminds you to confirm again on the store page before you pay.
We watch a handful of major U.S. retailers — Walmart, Ulta, Macy’s and selected brands like Michael Kors, Coach and Calvin Klein — plus reputable deal feeds. A price drop is only a candidate at this stage, not a post.
We go to the retailer’s own listing for that exact item and color/size, not a search page or a screenshot. We record the current price and, if the store shows one, the crossed-out original.
We sanity-check the “was” price against the brand or the item’s normal selling range, the way we describe in how to spot a fake “was” price. If the original looks inflated, we either drop the “was” or skip the deal.
On marketplaces we prefer items shipped and sold by the retailer itself. Third-party listings with unknown sellers get extra scrutiny or get left out, because their pricing and returns are less predictable.
Only then does the deal go on the board — with the check date, the store name, and the retailer’s own customer rating if one exists. Older deals auto-expire after a set number of days so the board doesn’t fill up with stale prices.
Even with all of this, a price can change or sell out within hours of posting. Retailers run flash sales, fix errors, and rotate stock constantly. Our date stamp is your cue: the older it is, the more important it is to re-check. If the price on the store page doesn’t match what we showed, don’t buy — that’s the rule we’d follow ourselves.
Tell us. If a deal is wrong or expired, we want to fix it fast — reach us through the contact page and we’ll update or remove it. Accuracy is the whole point of this site; a wrong price helps no one. For the finer details of how we treat ratings, reviews and “sold” claims, see our editorial & accuracy policy.
